BOSTON – Trailing by 12 with 1:46 to play, the Northeastern men's basketball team (6-10, 0-5) scored eight points in 16 seconds to trim the deficit to four in the final minute, but Drexel (7-6, 2-1) hit their free throws down the stretch to escape with a 76-68 victory on Saturday at Matthews Arena.

Nikola Djogo had a season-high 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting (4-of-7 from three) to lead three Huskies in double figures.
Jahmyl Telfort had 18 points along with seven rebounds while
Chris Doherty added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Northeastern was 24-of-53 from the floor on the afternoon and 7-of-21 from three, with the Dragons shooting 51% overall and 43% from deep and turned the ball over just six times.

Camren Wynter was the story for Drexel with a game-high 26 points on 9-of-19 from the field and nine assists, while Melik Martin (12 points), Amari Williams (12 points) and Xavier Bell (11 points) all reached double figures.

• Neither team led by more than six points in a first half that saw Northeastern shoot 32% (8-of-25) and Drexel 33% (11-of-33).

• Drexel held a 24-18 lead with 3:50 to go in the first thanks to eight first half points from Coletrane Washington, but Djogo helped cut the deficit to one at the break (24-23) with an and-one for three of his nine points in the opening frame.

• The Dragons used a 14-2 run midway through the second half to open up a 47-36 lead with 12:32 to go before increasing its advantage to as many as 12 with 1:46 remaining.

• Northeastern wouldn't back down, though, and cut the gap to four points with less than a minute to play.

The Huskies will be back in action on Monday when Northeastern hosts Delaware at 7 p.m. on CBSSN. As a reminder, home games at Northeastern are currently closed to spectators.
