No. 7/8 Northeastern Hosts No. 15 Providence On Saturday

BOSTON -- A top-15 matchup comes to Matthews Arena this Saturday, Oct. 15 as the No. 7/8 Northeastern Huskies host the No. 15 Providence Friars. The lone weekend matchup is the first of two times this season the Huskies and Friars will face off.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. SATURDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN: Saturday night's matchup against providence will mark the 169th contest between the two teams, the second straight at Matthews Arena for the Huskies. In their last series, the Huskies outscored the Friars by a 6-1 margin over two games in December 2021. Northeastern is 3-2-1 in the last six matchups with Providence at Matthews Arena.
2. INTO THE DEPTHS: Northeastern's depth for scoring is unmatched to start the season. The Huskies have tallied goals from ten different skaters, led by Aidan McDonough (3) and Justin Hryckowian (2). The Huskies are tied for second in the NCAA with the University of Minnesota with ten different goal scorers, just behind Ohio State University with 11.
3. HOCKEY EAST HONORS: Northeastern continues to be led by captain Aidan McDonough who was recently named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week after a five-point weekend against Vermont. The weekend was highlighted by McDonough's four-point night (2g, 2a) on Saturday to defeat Vermont, 5-0. This marked the third time in McDonough's career that he's recorded a four-point game. Junior goaltender Devon Levi also earned weekly honors being named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week with a sweep of Vermont. With the Huskies 5-0 shutout on Saturday night, Levi now holds a career shutout record of 11, which is tied for the most career shutouts in program history.
