THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- MAROHN ON THE THRONE: Junior defenseman Abbey Marohn was recently named the Hockey East Defender of the Week, after posting one goal and two assists in a weekend sweep over Merrimack. Marohn's goal in the 4-1 victory over the Warriors counted as the game-winner and her first NCAA goal. Marohn has tallied one goal and six assists through six games, already besting her career numbers entering this season.
- (BLACK) BEARS, BEETS, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Northeastern and Maine are meeting for the first time, since the Huskies downed the Black Bears 3-1 in the Hockey East Tournament semifinals last season. Maine is 4-3-0 to start the season with wins over Saint Anselm, New Hampshire and LIU. The Black Bears most recently split a series with LIU, 1-1. The Black Bears have a new head coach in Molly Engstrom this season. Through seven games, Grace Heiting leads Maine with five goals and four assists for nine points. Northeastern and Maine have not played a two-game series in Orono since the 2018-19 season, where the huskies won game one 3-1 and tied the second game 3-3.
- ON THE KILL: Northeastern is the only program in the country with a perfect penalty killing percentage. The Huskies opponents are 0-17 on the power play. Northeastern has scored two shorthanded goals while on the kill, with graduate student Alina Mueller and senior Katy Knoll tallying the goals.
The Huskies next have a home-and-home series with No. 13 Providence beginning with an away tilt on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
