Huskies Prepped For London Classic Title Game Saturday

LONDON – The Northeastern men's basketball team looks to capture the first-ever London Basketball Classic title when the Huskies battle Princeton in the tournament championship game at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday (12 p.m. ET).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. THE SERIES WITH PRINCETON - Northeastern and Princeton are meeting for the sixth time in series history, and first time since 2012. NU owns a 3-2 edge in the all-time series that dates back to 1979.

2. GUESS WHO'S BACK - After being ineligible all of last season due to NCAA transfer rules and missing two games earlier this season with an injury, Joe Pridgen had a coming out party on Thursday vs. Manhattan. Pridgen went for 20 points on 9-of-15 from the floor, including the game-winning bucket in overtime.

3. A GLOBAL INSTITUTION - Northeastern University, which has a campus in London, prides itself on being a global institution, and the athletic department has mirrored that mission.

"As a program, we are always looking to play a competitive non-conference schedule that prepares our team for the rigors of league play," said head coach Bill Coen. "To have the opportunity to do that at the 2022 London Basketball Classic, as well as provide our student-athletes with a once-in-a-lifetime global experience, is an opportunity that they will never forget."

In the last decade, 16 of the department's 17  varsity programs have traveled abroad for a global experience:
• Argentina - Field Hockey
• Canada - Women's Ice Hockey
• Cuba - Baseball and Volleyball
• England - Men's Basketball, Men's/Women's Rowing, Men's Soccer
• France - Women's Soccer
• Ireland - Swimming and Diving
• Mexico - Women's Basketball
• Northern Ireland - Men's/Women's Ice Hockey
• Puerto Rico - Men's/Women's Track & Field
• Rome - Men's Soccer
• Spain - Women's Soccer
