BOSTON— The third-seeded Northeastern women's soccer team is set to face the eighth-seeded Hofstra Pride in the CAA Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. at Parsons Field. The game will stream live on FloFC and admission to Parsons Field is free.
Parking will not be available for any spectators at Parsons Field, all fans can park in the surrounding Brookline area. Fan shuttles will be available and will leave from 50 Forsyth St. at 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- HOW'D WE GET HERE?: Northeastern traveled down to Drexel to for the CAA auarterfinals and semifinals. The Huskies took down sixth-seeded Stony Brook, 2-1, in the quarterfinals and then defeated the second-seeded Dragons on their home turf, 2-0, in the semifinals. Freshman Vivian Akyirem scored all four goals for the Huskies.
- CAA CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: The Huskies are making their seventh appearance in the CAA final and second in as many years. This matchup with Hofstra is a rematch of last year's CAA final, with the Pride winning that matchup 2-1. NU has won the CAA championship four times in 2008, 2013, 2014 and most recently in 2016, which was also the last year the Huskies hosted the game.
- SCOUTING THE PRIDE: Northeastern defeated Hofstra 2-1 in the two teams regular season meeting earlier this year. To make the championship game, the No. 8 Pride upset No. 1 Monmouth in penalty kicks and defeated No. 5 Towson, 2-0. This is the fifth all-time meeting between Hofstra and NU in the CAA final, with each side owning two wins.
