BOSTON – The Northeastern women's basketball team is set to open the 2022-23 season at Boston University on Monday, November 7
th. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 pm, and can be watched on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- PRESEASON HONORS: Gemima Motema from the Northeastern women's basketball team earned All-CAA Honorable Mention honors, announced by the league office on October 20. Motema, a sophomore guard from Portland, Maine, was one of Northeastern's top scorers in 2021-22, averaging 9.0 points per game. The sophomore had nine double-digit scoring games last season, highlighted by a career-high 22 points against Furman at the WBI on March 20. - Motema also was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team, and was named CAA Rookie of the Week on March 7 after scoring 20 points in a 63-48 victory over UNCW.
- HEADED TO THE SUNSHINE STATE: Northeastern is headed to St. Peterburg, Florida to play in the St. Pete Showcase on November 25-26. The Huskies are in a field of five teams that includes in-state University of Florida, the University of Houston, Portland University, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Northeastern will face UW-Green Bay on Friday, November 25th, and Portland on Saturday, November 26.
- LAST TIME OUT VS. BU: The Huskies and Terriers last faced on December 1, 2021, with Northeastern winning a score of 53-45. The Huskies trailed by one after the first quarter, but did not look back the rest of the way. Both Northeastern (32%) and BU (37%) struggled offensively throughout the contest. The Huskies outscored the Terriers by a slim margin (40-31), in the final three quarters, to seal the win.
After Boston University, the Huskies will remain on the road and have a tough test at 2021-2022 national champion runner-up UConn on Thursday, November 10. Tip-off is slated for 7 pm.
