BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team is back in Matthews Arena for its final home game of the non-conference slate when the Huskies host Holy Cross on Saturday at 2 p.m. on NESN and FloHoops.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. THE SERIES WITH HOLY CROSS -Â The Huskies and Crusaders are meeting for the 20th time in series history. Holy Cross holds a 13-6 edge in the series as they visit Matthews Arena for the first time since 2008, with Northeastern taking each of the last two meetings.
Â
2. HOLDING OPPONENTS UNDER 50 -Â Â In the
Bill Coen era, the Huskies have held opponents under 50 points on 33 occasions, including a 66-46 win over Georgia State on Dec. 2. Northeastern led the game from wire to wire, holding the Panthers to just 17 points in the first half and 1-of-20 afternoon from three point range.Â
Â
3. DOMINATING THE GLASS -Â Northeastern outrebounded Georgia State 50-24 on Dec. 2. It was the most rebounds in a game for the Huskies since the 2011-12 season.Â
Â
Alexander Nwagha has stepped in at the 5 spot in the absence of
Chris Doherty in recent weeks, collecting 49 rebounds in the last four games highlighted by 17 against Princeton on Nov. 26 en route to his first career double-double. Nwagha had 30 rebounds in his first two seasons at Northeastern combined.
