Rao Sets School Record as Northeastern Opens the Season at the Joe Donahue Games

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Northeastern track and field program competed at the Joe Donahue Games at the TRACK at New Balance to open their indoor season today, Dec. 9.
 
Graduate student Gianna Rao set a school record in the weight throw with a mark of 20.52m in her first competition with the Huskies.
 
Women:
  • In the early stages of the day, Dominque Biron took first place in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.81m.
  • Madeline Duchaussee finished second in the shot put with a 14.09m mark, putting her at tenth all-time in Northeastern history.
  • Madison Neuner finished third in the 5000m with a time of 17:14.81. The time was a career best for Neuner and good enough for tenth all-time in Northeastern history.
  • Anna Davis placed second in the 500m with a time of 1:15.06, the seventh best time in Northeastern history.
  • Ariann Robinson finished first in the 300m with a time of 40.15.
  • Sarah Petersen (2:13.91) and Lucinda Shotts (2:16.56) finished second and third in the 800m.
  • Christina Stanley finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m.
  • Nora Blodgett finished second in the 3000m with a time of 10:18.19.
  • In the 4x400 relay, Davis, Abigail Thomas, Robinson, and Shotts finished in 3:56.52.
Men:  
The Huskies will resume the indoor season at the UMass Winter Opener on Jan. 15, at the TRACK at New Balance.
