CARY, N.C.- Northeastern (1-2, 0-0 CAA) came out swinging against Monmouth (2-1, 0-0 MAAC) during game one of the double header at the Penn State Tournament, winning 10-5. Monmouth would fight back against the Huskies in game two, winning 12-5.
Game One - BOX SCORE (PDF)
- Starting pitcher Sebastian Keane's six strikeouts in 3.1 IP allowed him to earn and surpass 100 career K's.
- The Huskies were hitless until the top of the sixth inning where Corey DiLoreto's single up the middle would drive Mike Sirota home.
- Jack Thorbahn went yard for the first time in his collegiate career sending home Justin Bosland and DiLoreto. at 4-4.
- DiLoreto would single again in the top 7 to send Max Viera home, giving Northeastern their first lead of the game.
- Viera would steal second on an error in the top 9 while Costello would advance to third sending Spenser Smith home.
- Freshman Mike Sirota homered to left field giving the Huskies another three-run homer, extending the lead 9-5.
- JP Olson singled to short stop allowing Luke Beckstein to extend the Huskies lead 10-5 heading into the bottom 9.
- Jake Gigliotti pitched 2.2 innings for the Huskies allowing one hit and no runs, striking out two batters.
- Jordy Allard would earn his first win on the mound as a Husky. He went three innings and only allowed three hits and one run.
- Northeastern out-hit Monmouth 14-8 in the contest.

- Northeastern struck first with a single up the middle by Beckstein to send Bosland home.
- Sirota would keep the momentum going with a clean single to left center scoring Viera, giving NU a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.
- Monmouth wouldn't get on the board until the fifth inning to decrease their deficit to a one run game.
- Eric Yost got the start and pitched five strong innings for the Huskies striking out four batters, allowing only one run.
- Runners for Monmouth would advance on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning.
- Mark Darakjy smoked a two-run homer to left center in his first collegiate game sending Bosland home giving the Huskies some hope.
- Monmouth would stay hot, increasing their lead 12-4 heading into the top of the ninth.
- Looking to keep the Huskies alive, Teddy Beaudet singled to left field advancing Bosland to third, sending DiLoreto home.
Northeastern will finish out the tournament playing the host school, Penn State University on Sunday, February 20th at 10am.
