Devon Levi Wins Rookie of the Year, Jerry Keefe Wins Coach of the Year

AMESBURY, Mass. - Two of the three major Hockey East postseason awards have been taken home by members of the Northeastern men's ice hockey team, with goaltender Devon Levi being named Rookie of the Year, and Fernie Flaman Head Coach Jerry Keefe being named the winner of the Bob Kullen Award for the league's best coach.

  • Devon Levi becomes the program's first rookie of the year after a stellar debut season in Hockey East.
  • His final Hockey East numbers: 12-6-1 record, 588 saves and allowing 30 goals (.951 save%, 1.64 GAA). He posted five shutouts in conference play. His .951 save percentage is the second-best all-time in Hockey East in a single season behind Jimmy Howard, (.953 in 2003-04).
  • His overall numbers are now up to a .954 save% (1st in NCAA), 1.47 goals-against (3rd in NCAA) and 10 shutouts (2nd in NCAA), which includes his 46 save effort against BC in the Hockey East quarterfinals.
  • Levi was also the runner-up for Player of the Year; he's also a member of the Hockey East All-Star First Team, the All-Rookie team, and claimed the Goaltender of the Year award and PNC Bank Three Stars Award.
  • He has also claimed seven weekly awards from Hockey East, earning Rookie of the Week four times and Goaltender of the Week three times.

  • Jerry Keefe, who joined the program's coaching staff in 2011, becomes the program's fourth Coach of the Year award winner, and the first since Greg Cronin in 2009.
  • Keefe is only the second coach in Hockey East history to win Coach of the Year in his debut season. The first was UNH's Dick Umile in 1990-91.
    • Norm Bazin also won the award in his first Hockey East season (2011-12) after head-coaching Division III Hamilton.
  • Under Keefe, the Huskies enjoyed their second-best win total in program history reaching 25 wins in the Hockey East quarterfinal victory over BC. Keefe's 2021-22 Huskies reached 15 wins in their first 20 games, which is the fastest that mark has been reached in the team's history.
  • Five Huskies under Keefe's leadership went on to win postseason awards this year: Jordan Harris, Aidan McDonough, Jack Hughes, and Justin Hryckowian joining Levi as award-winners.
  • Keefe served as an associate head coach and assistant head coach in his 10 years before taking the mantle of Fernie Flaman Head Coach from Jim Madigan, who became the University's Director of Athletics and Recreation.
The top-seeded Huskies have advanced to the Hockey East semifinals where they face the No. 4 seed, UConn. Semifinal puck drop time is set for 4 p.m. on Friday at TD Garden on NESN. The winner will move on to face either [2] UMass or [3] UMass Lowell on Saturday night at TD Garden - puck drop for the championship is 7 p.m. on NESN.
