MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Northeastern baseball (12-11-1, 0-3 CAA) fell in its first CAA weekend series of the year, losing the series finale with College of Charleston (15-9, 3-0 CAA) by a score of 7-1 at Patriots Point.

- The Huskies got on the board first for the first time all weekend with a trio of singles – in the top of the third, catcher JP Olson took the first pitch he saw and hit it up the right field line with one out. Two batters later, Luke Beckstein and Mike Sirota each hit back to back singles up the middle, advancing Olson to second and sending him home for the 1-0 lead.
- The Cougars responded in the bottom of the frame with a four run outburst to lead 4-1.
- Charleston added on an RBI triple and RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to lead 6-1.
- Another run was tacked on for Charleston in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to lead 7-1.
- Wyatt Scotti (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season, getting the start and going 5.1 innings. He allowed 10 hits, five earned runs, no walks, and struck out three.
- The bullpen duo of Eric Yost and Dennis Colleran kept the Cougars in check as the Huskies attempted to rally - both pitchers combined for just two walks, no hits, no runs, and three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work.
- The Huskies attempted several rally attempts but stranded seven runners in the final four innings of play.
The Huskies will wrap up their four-game road swing with a midweek game at Rhode Island this Wednesday, March 30 at 3 pm. They return home for their first weekend CAA series of the season, hosting William & Mary this Friday through Sunday on FloBaseball. Games are scheduled for 2pm Friday, 1pm Saturday, and 1pm Sunday at Friedman Diamond.Â
