BOSTON – Northeastern University goaltender
Devon Levi has been named the winner of the 2022 Richter Award and Rookie of the Year Awards, the Hockey Coaches Association (HCA) announced on Friday evening at the Encore Resort and Casino.
Devon Levi posted an incredible first season of play, posting a .952 save percentage, a 1.54 goals against average, posting a 21-10-1 record in net with 10 shutouts.
- His save% ranked first in NCAA this season, and is tied for the second-best all-time save% in NCAA history.
- His goals-against average was third in the nation this season.
- 10 shutouts is tied for the third-most by an NCAA goaltender in a single season.
- He also posted 25 games in which the opponent tallied two goals or fewer, and had 16 games where he made 30+ saves.
Levi re-wrote the Northeastern goaltending record book this season, setting three new program records and placing himself on the leaderboard for more:
- Best single season save% (.952, was .933)
- Best single season GAA (1.54, was 1.92)
- Most shutouts in a single season (10, was 5)
- Third most wins in a single season (21, the record is 25)
- Second most shutouts in a career (10, the record is 11)
Levi is the second Husky to win the Richter Award since its inception in 2014, only one Northeastern goaltender has claimed the award - Cayden Primeau, who claimed the honor in the 2018-2019 season. Primeau finished that season with a 25-10-1 record, posting .933 save%, 2.09 GAA, and four shutouts.
Levi was also a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, while obtaining the following Hockey East accolades: Rookie of the Year, Goaltender of the Year, First Team All-Star, All-Rookie Team, Three Stars Award, two Rookie of the Month nods, three Goalie of the Week awards, and five Rookie of the Week honors. He was a national Rookie of the Month in November.
