Schlittler Taken by the Yankees in 2022 MLB Draft

LOS ANGELES - Northeastern University right-handed pitcher Cam Schlittler has been selected 220th overall in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees, making him the program's 56th selection all-time in the MLB Draft.

Cam is the highest Northeastern draft pick since Aaron Civale went 92nd overall in the third round of the 2016 draft. He's just the 10th Northeastern draft pick all-time to go before the 10th round.

Schlittler, the redshirt-sophomore, posted a 3.53 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 15 starts this season, including his seven-inning, two-run start against the top seeded College of Charleston in the second round of the 2022 CAA Tournament, which the Huskies went on to win, 6-5. Schlittler came into the 2022 season off an incredible rookie year, where he was named a CAA Co-Rookie of the Year. Schlittler entered the 2022 campaign as a preseason All-American.

During his NU career, Schlittler started a total of 30 games, with a 2.62 career ERA, and a 14-9 record. He has a total of 180 career strikeouts, tallying 85 each in the last two seasons.

"I'm so proud of Cam and all he accomplished here at Northeastern," said head coach Mike Glavine. "He worked very hard to earn this opportunity. He won a CAA championship, earned personal accolades, and now he has a chance to become a big-leaguer. I'm so happy for him and his family."

The MLB draft continues on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm with rounds 11-20. The draft is streamed on MLB.com.
