HERNING, Denmark— Northeastern women's hockey alumna Kendall Coyne Schofield,
Aerin Frankel and Hayley Scamurra captured silver with Team USA at the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championships on Sunday.
Coyne Schofield tied to lead the tournament with 10 assists over seven games played. She also added on a goal for 11 points overall, and broke the American Women's World Championship assist record (41) with a helper in the second period in Sunday's Gold Medal Game against Canada. Scamurra tallied two goals and one assist, including a two-point night against Czechia in the semifinal on Saturday where she was named the Player of the Game for Team USA. Frankel made her first Women's Worlds appearance in the third period against Hungary during the US's medal run.
En route to a silver medal, Team USA went undefeated in the group stage, took down Hungary, 12-1, and defeated Czechia, 10-1 before falling to Canada in the Gold Medal Game, 2-1.
