NEWARK, Del. – The Northeastern men's basketball team will look to get back on track on Saturday afternoon when the Huskies take on Delaware at 12 p.m. on CBSSN.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. THE SERIES WITH DELAWARE
The Huskies and Blue Hens are meeting for the 63rd time in series history, and second time in the last two weeks. UD owns a 33-29 edge in the series, with Northeastern grabbing a 59-58 win on Jan. 16 in Boston.
Â
In that game, Northeastern erased a 16-point first half deficit, capped by a jumper from
Jahmyl Telfort with 4.9 seconds to play.Â
Â
2. CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Jahmyl Telfort has put the Huskies on his back this season, eclipsing the 20-point plateau eight times including in six of the past 13 games. In road games, Telfort is averaging 15.7 points per game and shooting 47% from the floor (57-of-122).
Â
His 18 points on Thursday at Towson moved the junior into 49th on Northeastern's all-time scoring list with 923 points. He's just the 15th player in program history to crack the top-50 in scoring in three seasons or less.
Â
3. DOUBLE 'EM UP
Chris Doherty (15 points, 14 rebounds) and
Joe Pridgen (14 points, 14 rebounds) had big nights for Northeastern on Jan. 16 vs. Delaware, recording their first double-doubles of the season in a 59-58 come-from-behind victory. It was the first time this season, and first since Nov. 30, 2021, that two Huskies both recorded double-doubles in the same game.
Â
Doherty has three double-doubles in his last four games, averaging 10.5 points and 11.3 rebounds in that span, including 12 points and a season-high 16 boards at Towson on Thursday.
