No. 18/17 Huskies Prepped For UNH & No. 20 Merrimack

BOSTON -- The No. 18/17 Northeastern Huskies (2-0-0) are set for two conference games this week. To kick off Hockey East play, Northeastern hits the road to take on New Hampshire at Whittemore Center (Thurs., Oct. 26 | 7 p.m.) before coming back home to Matthews Arena on Saturday night as they host Merrimack College (Sat., Oct. 28 | 7 p.m.).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

1. LEADERBOARD: Atop of Northeastern's scoring sits two sophomores in forward Cam Lund and defenseman Vinny Borgesi. Both skaters have recorded one goal and tallied four assists for five points in two games this season.
2. WILDCAT HUNTIN': The Northeastern Huskies and New Hampshire Wildcats have faced off 188 times in program history. Most recently, the Huskies have won the last seven matchups with the Wildcats, outscoring them 35-10. Last year, the Huskies completed a series sweep over the Wildcats in a home-and-home series. Captain Justin Hryckowian led the way in scoring for Northeastern, finishing the weekend with six points from five goals and one assist that included recording his first career hat trick. Hryckowian went on to earn Hockey East Player of the Week and Player of the Month (November) honors.
3. POINT PLAYERS: Two Northeastern forwards have further extended their point streaks that carried over from the 2022-23 season. Graduate-student Liam Walsh has recorded seven points in his last five games out. His three goals and four assists include one power-play goal and two multi-point efforts. Sophomore Cam Lund has also notched seven points in his last four outings for Northeastern. Consisting of two goals and five assists, the San Jose draft pick has tallied two multi-point games and recorded the Huskies' lone goal in last year's Hockey East quarterfinal game.
