Meyers, Huskies Claim New England Championships Crown For First Time

BOSTON—The Northeastern Huskies women's cross country team took home first place at the 110th New England Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 7 at Franklin Park for the first time in program history.
  • The New England Championships' women's race began in 1975, and in the 48th running of the race the Northeastern Huskies won it for the first time after placing three runners in the top five.
  • Graduate student Isa Meyers ran an 18:24.9 on the 5K course to finish second overall and first for the Huskies.
  • Freshman Keira Gamily followed up with a time of 18:29.9, finishing third overall.
  • Junior Vivian McMahon crossed the line next for Northeastern, recording a time of 18:32.5 to finish fifth overall.
  • After McMahon was classmate Shannon Trevor, who came in sixth and posted an 18:36.1 time.
  • Rounding out the Huskies' top five was freshman Natasha Sortland. She crossed the line at 19:06.9 and finished 18th overall.
Next up, both the men's and women's cross country teams travel to the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Friday, Oct. 13.
