Northeastern Readies For TowneBank Holiday Classic

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team heads to Greenville, N.C. for three games in three days at the TowneBank Holiday Classic, beginning on Sunday afternoon against host East Carolina. Tip-off at Williams Arena is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+. The Huskies will also take on Kennesaw State (Monday at 3 p.m.) and Georgia Southern (Tuesday at 2 p.m.) during the tournament.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY VS. TOWNEBANK HOLIDAY CLASSIC OPPONENTS

Northeastern and East Carolina are meeting for just the third time in program history, with the series tied 1-1. The Huskies are making their first time to Greenville since 1986, a game in which Reggie Lewis had 21 points on 9-of-19 from the floor to go along with 13 rebounds.

Northeastern and Kennesaw State, meanwhile, will be meeting for the first time in program history, while the Huskies and Georgia Southern will tip-off for just the second time. The Eagles won the lone meeting, 65-63, on Dec. 28, 1990 in Boise, Idaho.

2. KEEPING IT 500
Tuesday's game at Harvard saw graduate student Chris Doherty collect seven rebounds to move to 500 for his Northeastern career. Doherty has led the team in rebounding in each of the last two seasons, and cracked the top-ten in the single-season record list with 268 boards during the 2021-22 season.

3. OUT OF THE WOODS
Sophomore Harold Woods has proven to be a key contributor off the bench early in the season, averaging 12 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game over the last two contests. In that span, Woods is 10-of-15 (67%) from the floor.
