Huskies To Host New Hampshire To Close Out Semester

BOSTONThe Northeastern women's swimming and diving team will host their final dual meet before the holiday break against UNH this Saturday, Dec. 9 in Barletta Natatorium at 12 p.m. The meet will be available to stream via FloSports. 

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. A YEAR AGO, TODAYLast year, Northeastern finished first against UNH, making it the Huskies' eighth consecutive win over the Wildcats. Sophomores Anna Verlander and Kotoko Blair along with juniors Nicole Linell and Hannah Seward took first place in the 200-yard medley relay posting a time of 1:44.50. Seward also picked up three wins in the 100-yard butterfly (55.97), 200-yard butterfly (2:05.19) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.00). Verlander saw another victory to increase her season total to eight, swimming the 100-yard backstroke in 56.21. Adding on was junior Devon Muldoon with a first-placed finish in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:02.55. 
  2. HUSKIES MAKING HISTORY Just a few weeks ago, the Huskies earned first place at the Terrier Invitational – the first win at this meet since 2007. Freshman Bella Busconi started off with a second-place finish in the 1650 Free, at 17:16.74. Sophomore Marcela Scaramuzza placed fifth in the 200 Breast final with a time of 2:21.83. Muldoon championed the 400 IM at 4:23.87 in the A final and gave the Huskies 24 points towards the total. Ending the meet with a win were senior Jamie Koo, freshman May Bradburn, Blair and senior captain Grace Miller with a time of 3:23.42 the 400 Free Relay.

SETTING PERSONAL RECORDS The Huskies saw new personal best times at the Terrier Invite with Blair and Bradburn placing second and fifth in the 100 Free, with time of 50.58 and 51.03, respectively. Seward marked a personal best of 2:03.51 in the 200 Fly and finished third. Junior Stella Urness set a personal-best time of 2:21.54 in the 200 Breast preliminaries. Sophomore Elisabeth Bendall took fourth in the 100 Breast, with a personal-best time of 1:03.98. Muldoon placed fourth with a personal best time of 55.41 in the 100 Back. Busconi won the B final for the 400 IM, setting a new personal best at 4:39.87. Muldoon's second win of the weekend gave her a personal best time of 1:57.77 in the 200 Back.
The Huskies will return after a break for a Training Trip in London, England from Dec. 29 to Jan. 6. They will be back home to host and compete in Boston on Jan. 13, 2024 against Vermont at 10:30 a.m.
