BOSTON— The No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to host the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. in Matthews Arena. The game will serve as the team's annual Skating Strides game with an in-person game-worn jersey auction with proceeds benefiting the Ellie Fund.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- MONEY MUELLER: Graduate student forward Alina Mueller set the all-time Hockey East points record with her 168th career point in a 4-0 victory over Holy Cross. Mueller passed Husky great Kendall Coyne Schofield as the all-time career points leader. Mueller was named Hockey East Player of the Week for her efforts. The Huskies are 20-0-0 when Mueller records a point this season. In Mueller's career, Northeastern is 106-7-7 in games where she records a point.
- GWYN-YTHING IS POSSIBLE: Senior Gwyneth Philips leads the nation in goals against average (.81), save percentage (.961), wins (24) and shutouts (9). She was named to the Hockey Commissioner Association's Women's Goalie of the Year Watchlist. Philips owns a 24-2-1 record this season. The Athens, Ohio native is the only goaltender in the country with above ten starts that owns a GAA below 1.00.
- A WILD THURSDAY NIGHT: Northeastern will close out its three-game Hockey East series against the Wildcats with Thursday's annual Skating Strides game. The Huskies previously defeated New Hampshire, 5-0 on the road and 8-2 at home in Matthews Arena. The Wildcats most recently defeated then-No. 14 UConn, 3-0, on Sunday, Jan. 29. Emily Pinto leads UNH with 22 points off of six goals and 16 assists. Kira Juodikis has a team-high 12 goals.
The Huskies are next in action at the Beanpot with an opening round game against Boston University on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. at Boston College's Conte Forum. Tickets are available
