Huskies Back At Home To Host Monmouth, William & Mary

BOSTON – With just one win separating the seventh through 12th spots in the CAA standings, it's crunch time as the Northeastern men's basketball team returns home this weekend for a pair of games at Matthews Arena, beginning on Thursday night against Monmouth (7 p.m.). The Huskies will then host William & Mary for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. Both games will air on NESN+ and tickets are available by visiting NUHuskies.com.tickets.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY --
The Huskies and Hawks are meeting for the fourth time in series history, and first time since 1992. Monmouth holds a 2-1 advantage in the series as the teams prepare to meet for the first time as CAA members.

Saturday's game against William & Mary will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools. The Tribe edged the Huskies in January, 69-66, with Coleman Stucke dropping 18 points for NU in the loss.

2. CENTURY CLUB -- On Monday, Jahmyl Telfort became the 41st player in Northeastern history to reach 1000 career points, and 20th to do so in three seasons or less. He's also the 15th player to reach 1000 career points in the Bill Coen era, a group that includes assistant coaches Manny Adako and Joel Smith, as well as graduate assistant Jon Lee. Telfort has scored 20+ points in nine games this season, and is sixth in the CAA in scoring (16.0ppg).

3. THANK YOU, SENIORS! – Prior to Saturday's game against the Tribe, the Huskies will honor the members of the 2023 Senior Class, which includes Chris Doherty and Coleman Stucke, as well as managers TJ Trosset and Patrick Isberg.

An All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention selection in 2022, Doherty's averaged 9.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game along with 12 double doubles in his three seasons on Huntington Avenue. As a junior last season, he pulled down 268 rebounds, which ranks ninth all-time in Northeastern's single-season history, and became the first CAA player since Navy's David Robinson to have a perfect night from the field (10-of-10) in a conference tournament game.

Stucke, who is having his best season to date, has set new career highs in nearly every category, and is averaging nine points per game. Earlier this year, he had a day to remember in a nationally televised game at Delaware, dropping 34 points on 12-of-19 from the floor, becoming just the 34th player in program history to score at least 34 points in a game. He will complete his undergraduate studies in just three years, earning a degree in business administration.
