RICHMOND, Va. – Graduate student guard
JaMiya Braxton of the Northeastern women's basketball team was named CAA Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
The McKinney, Texas native had a stellar week for the Huskies, averaging 19.5 points per game on 52% shooting (13-of-25). On Friday, the guard tallied a career-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting with three rebounds and a steal, helping Northeastern erase a 14-point deficit in a 70-61 victory over Delaware. Braxton then followed up on Sunday with a team-high 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in a dominant 79-46 win against Hampton.
The graduate student has 11 double-digit scoring games so far this season, all coming against CAA opponents.
Winners of six straight, Braxton and the Huskies will hit the road to face Charleston on Thursday, March 2. Tip-off is slated for 7 pm, and can be watched on FloHoops.
