Huskies Set to Close the Regular Season at Charleston, UNCW

BOSTON – Winners of six straight, the Northeastern basketball team (16-11, 11-5 CAA), is set to close the regular season on the road at Charleston (11-16, 6-11 CAA) on Thursday, March 2 at 7 pm, and then at UNCW (5-22, 2-14 CAA) on Saturday, March 4 at 2 pm. Both games can be watched on FloHoops.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. BRAXTON EARNS WEEKLY HONORS – Graduate student JaMiya Braxton was tabbed CAA Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon. The McKinney, Texas native had a stellar week for the Huskies, averaging 19.5 points per game on 52% shooting (13-of-25). On Friday, the guard tallied a career-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting with three rebounds and a steal, helping Northeastern erase a 14-point deficit in a 70-61 victory over Delaware. Braxton then followed up on Sunday with a team-high 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in a dominant 79-46 win against Hampton.
  2. LAST TIME OUT – The Huskies used a big 23-6 first quarter to take down Hampton, 79-46, on Sunday afternoon at the Cabot Center. With the victory, Northeastern picked up its sixth straight win, and moved into a tie for second-place in the CAA standings. In addition to Braxton's team-high 17 points, the Huskies got double-digit performances from junior Deja Bristol with 16 points and 10 rebounds, her second double-double of the season, senior Jaelyn Batts had 13 points and five rebounds, and senior Anna Boruta celebrated her senior day in style with 11 points (ties career-high) on perfect 4-of-4 shooting.
  3. ONE MORE - With the Huskies latest win, Northeastern improved to 11-5 in conference play, which marks the most CAA victories for the program since the 2017-18 season. The Huskies need one more conference win to break a program record for most CAA wins in a season.
After Charleston and UNCW, the Huskies will head to Towson, Maryland for the CAA tournament on March 8-12.
