VANCOUVER - Northeastern University men's ice hockey's
Aidan McDonough has signed a two-year, entry level contract with the Vancouver Canucks. McDonough, a native of Milton, Mass. wrapped up his fourth season as a Husky, serving as team captain. McDonough was a key presence for Northeastern, helping claim two Beanpot Championships, the program's first Hockey East Regular Season Championship, and a NCAA Tournament bid in 2022.
"Playing at Northeastern for the last four years has been a dream come true," said McDonough. "Huge thank you to my teammates, the coaching staff, the support staff, and everyone else involved in the university. It's been the best four years of my life. I'm super grateful to have been a Northeastern Husky."
He's been named a Hockey East First Team All-Star team twice in his career and is a two-time Hobey Baker Nominee. McDonough was also tabbed a New England Division I All-Star by the New England Hockey Writers Association in the 2021-22 season. He finishes his collegiate career with 124 appearances for Northeastern with 66 goals, 58 assists, for 124 points.
In his senior campaign, McDonough tallied 38 points in just 34 games played with 20 goals and 18 assists, including eight power-play goals. He finished as the active NCAA career leader in both goals (66) and power-play goals (29). Additionally, McDonough tallied the game-winning shootout goal to help the Huskies to their eighth Beanpot title overall, and fourth in the last five years.
McDonough is yet another member of the Northeastern men's hockey program to make an NHL roster, joining current NHLers
