Huskies Set For CAA Second Round On Saturday

BOSTON – It's playoff time for the Northeastern men's basketball team, which begins play at the 2023 Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday night against Delaware. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on FloHoops.
 
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
 
1. NORTHEASTERN IN THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIP

The Huskies are making their 18th appearance in the CAA Championship, and is 21-15 all-time in the conference tournament. NU is looking to advance to the CAA Quarterfinal for the 16th time in team history. Northeastern is 3-2 against Delaware in CAA Championship history. The teams last met in the postseason in 2018, a 74-50 victory for the Huskies in the quarterfinals.
 
2. HUSKIES COLLECT CONFERENCE HONORS
Ahead of the championship, the CAA announced on Thursday that Coleman Stucke has been named the Dean Ehlers Award winner while Jahmyl Telfort earned CAA Third Team All-Star honors. The Dean Ehlers Award is given annually to both a men's and women's basketball student-athlete in the CAA who "embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with his/her academic and athletic achievement." Stucke is Northeastern's fourth Dean Ehlers Award honoree, joining Jon Lee (2012-13) and Caleb Donnelly (2014-15 and 2015-16).
 
3. COACH COEN AT THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Bill Coen is 19-14 in the conference tournament during his 16 years at Northeastern. He is the winningest coach in CAA Championship history, passing George Mason's Jim Larranaga (18-11) last season. Coen is also three wins away from becoming the winningest coach in CAA history (conference games and tournament).
