BOSTON - The Northeastern baseball team (12-4) plays host to two midweek contests this Tuesday and Wednesday, March 21 and 22, welcoming in #16/17 Boston College (14-3) on Tuesday, and Merrimack College (2-12) on Wednesday.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- NORTHEAST HEAVYWEIGHTS: Tuesday's match up features two of the hottest teams in college baseball: Northeastern is off to its best start since the 1940s, while #16/17 BC is currently in its best start in program history. Both teams currently sit in the top 10 of the early season RPI ranking, with Boston College at seventh-highest RPI rating, and Northeastern at the ninth-highest.
- SWINGING FOR THE FENCES:Â Northeastern has belted 33 home runs to begin the season, already outperforming the 2022 season (27). On Friday against the NC A&T Aggies, the Huskies tallied eight home runs on the afternoon, with seven in game one (most in a game since the 1900s) and a solo shot in game two, tying the game up in the fifth inning.
- NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Huskies find themselves amidst a eight game home stand, opening up the home schedule with a 2-1 weekend against CAA foe North Carolina A&T. Northeastern has posted winning records at home for the past 10 seasons.
The Huskies will continue their streak of non-conference bouts this weekend when they host the Hartford Hawks for a Saturday doubleheader on March 25th, and a third game on Sunday, March 27th. All three games will stream on FloBaseball.
