Huskies Knock Off No. 7 Brown, Take Dreissigacker Cup in Photo Finish

PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Northeastern men's rowing team took down No. 7 Brown on Saturday afternoon as the first varsity knocked off the Bears in thrilling fashion by .57 seconds, bringing the Dreissigacker Cup back to Henderson Boathouse.

In the race for the Dreissigacker Cup, stroked by graduate student Rhett Burns, the first varsity was off to a level start with the Bears. Brown began to pull ahead to a two-seat advantage through the first 500 meters, and increased its lead to five seats in the second 500. With 700 meters to go, Northeastern made a move, and took the lead with only 100 meters remaining, and crossed the line ahead of the Bears in thrilling fashion at 6:05.40. Brown finished at 6:05.97.
Stroked by senior Gus Kynast, the second varsity went stroke for stroke with the Bears through the first half of the race, but Brown pulled ahead in the second half and held on to cross the line ahead of the Huskies at 6:21.50.
The Huskies had early leads in the third and fourth varsity races, but Brown edged Northeastern in both. Northeastern's third varsity finished at 6:34.6, and the fourth varsity crossed the line at 6:42.8.

The Huskies will return home to race against Harvard on Saturday, April 29, and Wisconsin on Sunday, April 30.
