BOSTON – Racing in tough conditions on the Charles, the No. 8 Northeastern men's rowing team closed out the regular season in style, knocking off No. 11 Wisconsin by open water to retain the Congram Cup on Sunday morning.  
 
The Huskies have now won 10 straight against the Badgers, since the teams started facing each other for the cup in 2013.

• Stroked by graduate student Rhett Burns, the first varsity eight got off to a strong start, leading by two seats through the first 500 meters. Northeastern's advantage continued to grow, leading by four seats at the halfway point of the race. The Huskies continued to push the pace, extending their lead to open water in the second half, and crossed the line 8.9 seconds ahead of the Badgers at 5:37.1.
• Stroked by senior Gus Kynast, the second varsity eight got off to a quick start, leading by three seats through the first 500 meters. The Huskies continued to remain in front, extending their advantage to about a length heading into the second half of the race. Wisconsin made a late push, but the Huskies were able to hold on, finishing 3.1 seconds ahead of the Badgers at 5:46.6.
• The fourth varsity eight, with freshman Elrond Kullman in the stroke seat, had a strong race to close the morning, taking down Wisconsin's third varsity boat with a time of 5:55.6.

The Huskies will return to the water at Eastern Sprints in Worcester on Sunday, May 14.
