BOSTON – A national search is currently underway to name the next Northeastern University women's basketball coach, Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Madigan announced on Friday.
Bridgette Mitchell is departing Northeastern to become the head women's basketball coach at Fordham University.
"I would like to thank Bridgette for her two years of service to Northeastern." Madigan said. "I wish her continued success in the future."
Picked to finish eighth in the conference preseason poll in 2022-23, the Huskies won a program record 13 league games en route to a share of the CAA Regular Season title, the first in program history. The Huskies rode an eight-game winning streak into postseason play, entering the CAA Championship as the No. 3 seed and reaching the conference semifinals for the third time in program history.
"We are confident that we will quickly identify the next leader who will continue the upward trajectory of our program," Madigan said, "and I look forward to working with them to keep raising the bar for our women's basketball program, both on the court and in the classroom."
