Huskies Knock Off Stanford in the Second Varsity Race to Close out the Pac-12 Invitational

REDWOOD SHORES, CA. –
The Northeastern men's rowing team closed out the Pac-12 Invitational on Sunday by knocking off Stanford in the second varsity race by 2.5 seconds. The first varsity also battled through the entirety of their race before a late surge gave the Cardinal the win.
  • Stroked by freshman Aidan Murphy, the second varsity got off to a clean start, and controlled for the entirety of the race. The Huskies didn't look back, crossing the line ahead of the Cardinal at 5:51.2. Stanford finished at 5:53.7.
  • Stroked by graduate student Rhett Burns, the first varsity got off to a strong start, and led through the first 500 meters. Stanford pulled away through the middle of the race though, and finished ahead of the Huskies at 5:39.0. Northeastern crossed the line 4.9 seconds behind at 5:43.9.
Up next, the Huskies will head to Providence to face Brown for the Dreissigacker Cup on Saturday, April 15.
