BOSTON - The Northeastern University baseball team (37-9, 17-7 CAA) wraps up a 10-day, seven-game road trip as the Huskies face William & Mary (30-19, 13-11 CAA) in a three-game series this Friday through Sunday, May 12-14 at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va. Game one is scheduled for Friday evening at 6 p.m. on FloBaseball.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- THE BAR HAS BEEN RAISED: With Tuesday's midweek win, the Northeastern Huskies have 37 wins on the season, which is a new program record. The Huskies reached 36 wins twice in the last five seasons, both wins coming in the CAA Tournament.Â
- GIANT SLAYERS: Northeastern is a perfect 3-0 in games against a ranked opponent, and are 4-0 vs. teams currently ranked in the Top 25. The Huskies' most recent win came Tuesday, May 9 against No. 19 Maryland in College Park, Md. First baseman Tyler MacGregor tallied three home runs to lead the Huskies past the Terps, as he became the first Husky to notch three homers in one game since Mike Lyon in 2008.
- WHERE THEY STAND: Entering the weekend, Northeastern sits in second place in the CAA standings, one game behind the UNCW Seahawks. William & Mary sits in fifth, tied with Delaware at 13-11 in conference. The Tribe and the Blue Hens represent the final two playoff spots in the standings with Hofstra, Stony Brook, and NC A&T all within striking distance. UNCW and Northeastern have both claimed postseason berths.
Northeastern heads home after the series to play its final four games of the regular season, all of which will be played at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies host the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Tuesday, May 16 at 3 p.m. before welcoming in the College of Charleston for a three-game series Thursday through Saturday, May 18-20. Tuesday's contest will be broadcast on NESN+, while the weekend series will be shown on NESN. All four games will stream on FloBaseball.
