Biron Wins Heptathlon, Huskies Finish at New England Championships, Yale Last Chance Meet

BOSTON – Northeastern senior Dominique Biron championed the heptathlon with 5,097 points, while the rest of the Huskies finished up at the New England Championships and the Yale Last Chance Meet.

Biron competed in the high jump (1.61m), the shot put (11.31m), the 100m hurdles (14.06), and the 200m (25.01) on the first day. Finishing with the long jump (5.59m), javelin throw (33.88m) and 800m (2:37.53). The senior also won the 400m hurdles event with a time of 58.55.

Women:

Gianna Rao finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.62m, while Isabella Wiklund (55.87m) and Liangie Calderon (55.81m) finished in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Abigail Hassman finished fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:32.99, while Ava Duggan finished at 4:47.03.
Ariann Robinson finished third in the 400m with a time of 55.29.
In the 800m, Lucinda Shotts led the way at 2:14.44, followed by Sarah Petersen at 2:14.60 and Lucy Abdow at 2:15.49.
Anna Davis finished right behind Biron in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.39.
Azza Borovicka-Swanson took second place in the 3000m steeplechase, coming across the line at 10:50.37.

Men:

Nicholas Pisciotta finished second in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 62.32m
Noah Sweeney took first in the 100m with a time of 10.55, while Michael Stroup followed at 10.83 in seventh.
Nicholas Young led the way in eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:53.04, while Tyler Brogan followed at 1:53.93.
Matthew Schaefer took fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:13.82.

Yale Last Chance Meet:

Patrick Cullen finsihed 3rd in the 10000m at 29:58.16, while Patrick Cantlon finished 11th in the 1500m at 3:48.54.

The Huskies will send athletes to the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., from May 24-27.
