BOSTON — Vinny Borgesi,
Jackson Dorrington and
Cam Lund have been invited to the World Junior Summer Showcase as announced today by USA Hockey. The week-long showcase will be used to evaluate players that will be chosen for the 2024 U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden from December 26-January 5, 2024.
Hosted at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., the showcase will take place from July 27-August 4, 2023 and will also include games against teams from Finland and Sweden.
Borgesi is entering his sophomore season with the Huskies after putting up one goal and nine assists in 32 games last season. The blueliner finished with 33 blocks, which was tied for the third best mark on the team, while his ten points ranked third among all Northeastern defensemen. The Pennsylvania native scored his first collegiate goal in his first game as a Husky with an overtime winner against LIU in Northeastern's season opener.
Dorrington, a Massachusetts native, finished his freshman season with six points, sixth among all Northeastern defensemen, from six assists. He appeared in all 35 games for the Huskies and started on six occasions. The 6-2 blueliner recorded 31 blocks which tied for the fifth best mark on the roster. Dorrington also assisted on the Huskies' opening goal in the championship game against Harvard en route to the program's eighth Beanpot title.
Lund enters his sophomore season with the Huskies after recording 23 points, fifth best on the team, from seven goals and 16 assists during the 2022-23 stint. The San Jose Sharks draft pick was also named to the 2023 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and was the league's Player of the Week (Nov. 14) after recording his first career hat trick against Boston College. The 6-2 forward was also named to the 2023 U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster last December.
