BOSTON — Junior
Ethan Exilhomme broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles and recorded the fastest time in the NCAA this season and the Huskies picked up six wins as they opened 2024 with the UMass Flagship Invitational Sunday at the Track at New Balance.
Exilhomme ran a 7.60 in the 60m hurdles, breaking his previous school record of 7.71 seconds. That mark is under the World Indoor Championships standard of 7.62 seconds.
Track Events
- The Tewksbury, Massachusetts native's day did not end there, as he won the 200m and moved into sixth on the school's All-Time Top Ten list after running a 21.41.
- Fifth-year Isa Meyers finished second in the mile with a time of 4:52.87, moving her into the seven spot on Northeastern's All-Time Indoor Performance List.
- Fifth-year Dominique Biron moved into the 10th spot on the All-Time Indoor Performance List with her 1:15.32 time in the 500 meters, finishing third in the event.
- Graduate student Kerem Ayhan posted the second-best time (1:02.78) in school history in the 500m to win the event, and he was followed by freshman Johnny Emmanuel (1:02.87), who moved into fourth on the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
- Freshman Savannah Blair won the 200 meters, crossing the finish line at 24.49 and placing herself in the seventh spot on the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
- Emmanuel, Exilhomme, Ayhan and fifth-year Pierre Sylvain combined to win the 1600-meter relay, posting a 3:15.57 time.
Field Events
- Senior Hope Belvit recorded a distance of 17.43 meters in the weight throw, earning the ninth spot in the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
- In the pole vault, Athanasios Pantazopoulos reached 4.85 meters, placing him in sole possession of eighth on the All-Time Indoor Performance List.
- Senior Nicholas Pisciotta won the men's weight throw, tossing his weight 18.70 meters, the best mark by a Husky this season.
- Junior Mia Belanger jumped over a 1.65-meter bar to tie for second in the high jump.
The Huskies will stay in Boston for their next two meets, as they race in the Battle in Beantown at Boston University and the Track at New Balance Collegiate showdown at the Track Saturday, Jan. 20.
