Abigail Hassman each broke school and CAA records at the New Balance Collegiate Showdown as the Northeastern track and field team competed in both the Collegiate Showdown and the Battle in Beantown at Boston University Saturday afternoon.
NEW BALANCE COLLEGIATE SHOWDOWN
- Exilhomme clocked a time of 6.69 in the 60-meter dash to break the school record and the CAA record, finishing second in the race. That time is 38th in the NCAA this season and is the second-fastest time in New England history.
- Hassman finished fourth in the mile, but broke school and CAA records with a time of 4:41.18, the 30th-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
- Senior Ava Duggan finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:45.04 and moved into third on the Northeastern All-Time Indoor Performance List.
BATTLE IN BEANTOWN
- Freshman Savannah Blair clocked the third-fastest time in Northeastern history in the 60m dash, crossing the line at 7.50 seconds and winning the event.
- Blair also won the 300m, finishing at 39.66. That time was followed by sophomore Ariann Robinson's 39.67, as she finished second in the event.
- In the women's 800m, Nicole Dunbury added her name to the Huskies' All-Time Indoor Performance List with a 2:11.66 time. She won the event and is now seventh on the Performance List. The Huskies swept the top three spots in that event, with junior Sarah Petersen (2:12.91) and Hassman (2:13.13) following in the second and third places, respectively.
- Graduate student Kerem Ayhan won the men's 800m and moved up to seventh on the All-Time Indoor Performance List with a time of 1:49.81, the best time in the Northeast Region this year.
- Senior Patrick Cullen was the runner-up in the 3000m and ran an 8:09.60 to move into fifth on the All-Time Indoor Performance List. That time is ninth in the Northeast Region this year.
- The women's 4x400m relay group of Blair, Robinson, fifth-year Dominique Biron and senior Claire Danyluk won the event and moved into seventh on the All-Time Indoor Performance List, posting a 3:46.51 time.
- Freshman Ian Solberg finished second in the high jump, clearing a 1.96-meter bar.
- Junior Athanasios Pantazopoulos won the pole vault, getting over a bar at 4.60 meters.
- Biron took first in the long jump with a distance of 5.98 meters.
Next up, the Huskies will be back at both tracks Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27 as they compete at the River Hawk Invitational and the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
