BOSTON – The Northeastern women's basketball team (4-6) is set to open conference play at home against Delaware (4-8) on Friday, January 5 at 7 p.m., and then will head to Drexel (5-6) to face the Dragons on Sunday, January 7 at 2 p.m. Friday's contest will stream on NESN+/FloHoops, and Sunday's will be on FloHoops.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- LAST TIME OUT – Derin Erdogan notched a team-high 21 points, but Boston University notched a three-pointer with one second to go to take down the Huskies, 83-80, in an overtime thriller to close non-conference play. Erdogan reached 20+ for the second time this season, and second in the last three games. The Istanbul, Turkey native also had five rebounds, five assists, and tied a season-high with four steals. Deja Bristol also headlined the Huskies with 14 points and six rebounds.
- IN THE CAA RANKS – Erdogan ranks fourth in the CAA with 45 assists, averaging 4.5 per game. The senior also ranks eighth in the conference with 17 steals, averaging 1.7 per game. Maddie Vizza is seventh in the CAA in three-point field goals per game with 22, averaging 2.2 per game.
- SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS – The Blue Hens are coming off an 88-58 defeat to Harvard on December 31, and have lost five straight. Delaware is averaging 67.7 points per game, and are led by senior Tara Cousins, who is averaging 15.6 points per game. The Dragons enter the weekend with a 5-6 record and are coming off a 63-39 win over Arcadia on December 29. Graduate student Brooke Mullins leads Drexel on offense, averaging 12.3 points per game.
After Delaware and Drexel, the Huskies will remain on the road to face UNCW on Friday, January 12. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on FloHoops.
