BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team will look to get back to its winning ways when the Huskies travel to Monmouth on Monday night. Tip-off at the OceanFirst Bank Center is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be nationally televised on the CBS Sports Network.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. SERIES HISTORY VS. MONMOUTH
Northeastern and Monmouth will meet for just the fifth time in program history, with the series tied 2-2. The Huskies won the last matchup Feb. 16, 2023, 77-62, thanks to a nine-point, 19-rebound effort from
Joe Pridgen, tied for the most rebounds by a player in the CAA last season.
Â
Monday marks Northeastern's first trip to West Long Branch since Jan. 2, 1992.
Â
2. AN ALL-AROUND THREAT
Graduate student
Chris Doherty has done it all for the Huskies this season, leading the Huskies in scoring (12.6ppg), rebounds (7.1rpg), assists (2.6apg) and blocks (9).
Â
He has four double-doubles this season, good for third in the CAA, and leads the league and is 60th in the nation in field goal percentage (56.2%).
Â
3. NOT YOUR AVERAGE JOE
After missing two games with an injury,
Joe Pridgen returned to the lineup in a big way on Dec. 16 at No. 22/21 Virginia. The redshirt senior recorded 11 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and season-high four assists, and followed it up with a season-high 19 points at Rhode Island on Dec. 30.
Â
Pridgen is one of four Huskies averaging better than 10 points per game with 10.2, along with 5.8 rebounds per game that are second on the team. He's reached double figures seven times this season, and recorded his 1000th career point on Jan. 4 against Stony Brook.Â
