BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team is back home for a pair of games this week, beginning on Tuesday night when the Huskies host La Salle at Matthews Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on NESN and FloCollege.
FOUR THINGS TO KNOW
1. SERIES HISTORY VS. LA SALLE
Northeastern and La Salle are meeting for the sixth time in series history, and second time in as many seasons. The Explorers lead the series, 4-1, including a 79-74 victory last year in Philadelphia, as the series shifts back to Boston for the first time since 2012. Last year against La Salle,
Masai Troutman went for 17 points on 4-of-10 shooting and 8-of-11 from the line as one of four Huskies in double figures.
Since the 2014-15 season, the Huskies are 28-8 (.778) at home against non-conference opponents, including a 1-1 mark this season.
2. KING ME
Rashad King has become one of Northeastern's most reliable assets, going from averaging 3.0 points per game as a freshman to 8.3ppg and a team-high 80 assists last season.
King's gotten off to a similar start this season by averaging a team-high 16.6 points per game and 34 assists through eight games, including 13 dimes against Princeton on Nov. 10. That is tied for the sixth most in single-game history and the most for a Husky since David Walker vs. Hofstra on Jan. 21, 2016.
He has scored a career-high 27 points twice this season (vs. CCSU, at Vermont), making a career-high 11 field goals on both occasions. He is currently second in the conference in assists and third in assists per game (4.3).
3. SAAC HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
Tuesday is one of two opportunities this week for Northeastern men's basketball fans to participate in the Huskies Holiday Toy Drive, presented by the Student-Athlete Advisory Commitee.
Please consider donating new, unwrapped toys to The Wonderfund: a private nonprofit, serving kids engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Donation bins will be located on the concourse of Matthews Arena.
4. PARKING FOR HOME GAMES AT MATTHEWS ARENA
Fans attending Athletic events at Matthews Arena are able to park in the Columbus Avenue Garage during the event free of charge. The garage is open to fans two (2) hours prior to game time. From Columbus Garage fans can access Matthews Arena by taking the footbridge over the MBTA tracks via Camden Street. Fans that park in Columbus Garage are asked to exit the garage no later than one (1) hour following the conclusion of the game.
Metered parking is also available on streets around the arena.
