BOSTON, Mass. — Graduate student Abigail Hassman highlighted the afternoon with a new school record in the women's 5k at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, as three members of the Northeastern Women's Track and Field team competed at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
- The day started with graduate student Ava Duggan crossing the line in 19th in the women's mile, setting a 4:49.78 mark to kick off her indoor season.
- Next was graduate student Azza Borovicka-Swason, who competed in the 3000m. The Bend, Oregon native crossed the line in 79th after setting a time of 9:38.10.
- Hassman rounded out the competing Huskies by setting a new fastest time in the 5000m. She finished at 15:47.59, breaking the previous record by nine seconds and coming home in 31st. It is the second straight year she broke the 5k record at this event.
The Huskies conclude their weekend with the Joe Donahue Games, held tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Track at New Balance. Tickets are $10 (cash only) at the front door of the venue.
