Northeastern Ready For Two-Game Series At No. 9 Maine

BOSTON — The Northeastern men's hockey team hits the road for a weekend series against the No. 9 University of Maine Black Bears. The pair of games will be the second and third contests this season between the two programs.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. BATTLING THE BLACK BEARS: Against the Black Bears, the Huskies are 12-1-1 in their last 14 outings, outshooting Maine 51-26. The 12 victories include two wins in the 2019 Hockey East quarterfinals and two shutouts. During their careers in the Northeastern sweater, nine Huskies have recorded at least one point against the Black Bears. Earlier this season, Northeastern hosted, at the time, #6/5 Maine for a lone Friday contest where the Huskies came out on top, 6-3, with goals coming from six different goal scorers. Three players finished the contest with three points including defenseman Vinny Borgesi and forwards Alex Campbell and Justin Hryckowian, each with one goal and two assists.
  2. BIG 5-0: Last Saturday, during Northeastern's 4-0 shutout over UMass Lowell, three Huskies hit the 50 mark in their respective stat categories. At the beginning of the third period, Northeastern took a 2-0 lead over the River Hawks courtesy of senior Alex Campbell's 50th career goal. Campbell knocked on the doorstep to double the Huskies lead just 2:10 into the frame, assisted by the Hryckowian duo, Dylan and Justin. Just over the halfway point in the final frame, sophomores Cam Lund and Jack Williams connected for the Huskies' third goal of the night, giving Williams his 16th goal of the year. On the tally, both Lund and Williams recorded their 50th career point.
  3. IN THE NATION: In the nation, NU has four skaters ranked among the top-20 in various statistical categories. Junior Justin Hryckowian, among all players who have taken a minimum 200 faceoffs, ranks second overall with a 63.5 faceoff-win percentage, 11th overall with 326 faceoff wins and is tied for 12th with a plus-21 rating. Additionally, senior Alex Campbell sits tied for sixth with two short-handed goals, senior Gunnarwolfe Fontaine is tied for ninth with four game-winning goals and sophomore Jack Williams ranks 20th overall with a 1.22 points per game.
