Borgesi, Whitehead Earn Hockey East Weekly Honors

AMESBURY, Mass. – Vinny Borgesi and Cameron Whitehead of the Northeastern men's ice hockey team claimed weekly awards from Hockey East as announced on Monday. Borgesi was named the Hockey East Player of the Week, while Whitehead earned Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors.
 
Both Huskies played a crucial role in Northeastern's victories over No. 3 Boston University and No. 6/5 Maine last week.

Vinny Borgesi – Hockey East Player of the Week
  • Borgesi led all Hockey East skaters last week and was second in the nation following a six-point venture.
  • With back-to-back three-point games, he tallied three assists against BU before adding a goal and two assists versus Maine.
  • Additionally, he finished with a plus-three rating, four shots and four blocks.
  • Borgesi currently has eight points in four consecutive games and is tied for ninth in the league with 13 assists.
  • With the honors, Borgesi has earned the first weekly accolade of his career.
 
Cameron Whitehead - Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week
  • Whitehead tallied 38 saves en route to a 4-3 overtime victory over No. 3 Boston University, before recording 37 saves against No. 6/5 Maine.
  • Over the course of the week, he recorded a .926 save percentage.
  • Whitehead is 11-10-2 through his 2023-24 campaign. He is tied for fourth in Hockey East action with six wins and ranks third overall with 442 league saves.
  • Whitehead has now been named the Goaltender of the Week twice in his career.
