Huskies Head To BC, Host Merrimack In Midweek Match Ups

BOSTON – The Northeastern University baseball team (12-5) continues its stretch of consecutive games played in New England as the Huskies make the short trip to Brighton on Tuesday to take on the Boston College Eagles (11-7), followed by a home game at Friedman Diamond against the Merrimack College Warriors (3-14) on Wednesday afternoon.

Tuesday's game at BC will be streamed on ACCN Extra, and Wednesday's home game will be streamed on FloBaseball. Both games have a 3 p.m. start time.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. A GOOD DAY AT THE BALLPARK
Sophomore transfer Jack Goodman had himself a near perfect day at the ballpark on Friday against Rhode Island, hitting for the cycle in five at-bats and collecting two highlight-worthy web gems, the first of which made SportCenter's Top 10 Plays.

Goodman notched a home run in the first, a double in the fourth, a single in the fifth, and a triple to deep right-center in the seventh inning. It was his first four-hit day in his career, as he finished the day with three runs scored, and three RBIs.

  1. HISTORIC GAME-HIGHS
A pair of statistical game highs have been upended in the previous weeks – after notching six RBIs in a game once last season, Alex Lane has now done it twice this season (at ODU 3/10 – vs. URI 3/15), for three times in his career. The Huskies have now had a player record a six-RBI game in every season since 2022 – the last time before that was 2018 (Jake Farrell vs. Towson)

Mike Sirota collected four walks against Rhode Island on Friday afternoon, which was the most by a Husky in a game since 2020 when Spenser Smith earned four walks at FAU, scoring two runs on the day. Sirota came around to score twice on Friday against URI. Since 2010, no Husky has earned more than four walks in a game.

  1. SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Boston College Eagles come into the midweek slate off an ACC series win over Pitt on the road, winning the final two games of the series 16-10 and 7-3. The Eagles boast a .300 team batting average and have belted 27 home runs and 143 RBIs so far this season.

Merrimack comes into the week on an eight-game road trip, playing two NEC series away from home the last two weekends and traveling up to Brighton last Tuesday to face BC. The Warriors grabbed their first conference win of the season at Coppin State in their first weekend of NEC play, before falling to BC last Tuesday, 17-7, and dropping the series with Sacred Heart last weekend in Fairfield.

The Huskies begin conference play the following Friday, March 22 as they travel to Hempstead, N.Y. for a three-game series with Hofstra. All three games are set to stream on FloBaseball.
