BOSTON - After taking a series win in their first CAA weekend of the season, the Northeastern Huskies (16-6) face a pair of Connecticut schools this Tuesday and Wednesday, March 26th and 27th before hosting their first weekend series this Friday through Sunday, March 29-31.
The Huskies host Central Connecticut State (6-8) on Tuesday at Freidman Diamond, before heading to Storrs, CT. on Wednesday to face UConn (9-13) at Elliot Ballpark. Tuesday's home game, originally scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch is now scheduled to begin at 2:35 p.m., streaming on NESN+ and FloBaseball, and Wednesday's game begins at 3:05 p.m. and streams on UConn+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. HOME COOKIN'
Northeastern welcomes CCSU to Friedman Diamond on Tuesday afternoon - the Huskies are 4-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents by a run total of 39-13. The Huskies are now 56-14 at home since the start of the 2021 season.
2. WINNING THE WEEKEND
After dropping the season-opening series at Arizona losing two of three against the Wildcats, the Huskies have posted two wins in each of their previous five weekend series. The Huskies swept a two-game series with Minnesota at a neutral site, and won road series at Mercer, Old Dominion, and Hofstra. They've also won two-of-three against Rhode Island in a home-and-home series.
3. SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS / THE OTHER HUSKIES
CCSU comes into the midweek slate with a shutout win over Wagner, spoiling a sweep by the Seahawks by winning game three 7-0. The Blue Devils are 6-8 to begin the year, 5-4 in conference play, and have played two CAA opponents, beating Stony Brook 15-8, but losing their season to William & Mary, 8-3.
The UConn Huskies come into the week after dropping two of three games at Rutgers - the weekend before, took two of three at Cal Baptist University, capping off a 4-1 week in California notching midweek wins over UCLA and UC Irvine. UConn has played just one game at Elliot Park this year, a 14-8 win over Long Island University - UConn hosts the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday ahead of hosting Northeastern.
Northeastern hosts its first three-game series at Friedman Diamond this coming weekend, hosting CAA foe Monmouth on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
