Northeastern Claims Council Cup Over BU, Rhode Island

BOSTON — The Northeastern women's rowing team brought home the Council Cup after the varsity eight defeated Boston University on Saturday morning on the Charles.

"Our varsity eight did a great rowing through BU for the win," said head coach Joe Wilhelm. "It was actually a really gritty performance from the entire team in really tough, heavy conditions"

With a time of 7:11.50, Northeastern's varsity eight took first place over Boston University and Rhode Island, winning by over two seconds.
Following up, both the Huskies' second varsity eight and first varsity four placed second with times of 7:36.20 and 8:54.50, respectively.
Northeastern raced its second varsity four and third varsity four in the fourth event of the day. The third varsity four, coxed by Cailin Cronin, finished first with a time of 8:55.00, while the second varsity four, coxed by Catherine Ingram, placed second with a time of 8:57.40.
In the final event of the day, the Huskies raced both their third varsity eight and fourth varsity eight. With Dylan Halky in the stroke seat, the 3V8 finished with a time of 8:08.10 to place first. The 4V8, stroked by Norah Smith, finished third with a time of 8:36.30.

Following a bye week, Northeastern in back on the road to New Jersey on Saturday, April 27 to compete against Columbia, Notre Dame, Princeton and Rutgers.
