AMHERST, Mass. — With over 50 athletes competing, the Northeastern track & field team wrapped up a busy weekend at the UMass Flagship Opener Sunday afternoon.
FIELD EVENTS
- Senior Hope Belvit moved into sixth on the All-Time Outdoor Performance List in the hammer throw, winning the event with a 56.85m throw. Classmate Trinity Cardillo finished fourth with a 52.74m toss.
- In the women's pole vault, freshman Hannah Shaw eclipsed a 3.40-meter bar to move into 10th on the All-Time Outdoor Performance List.
- Senior Nicholas Pisciotta won the men's hammer, launching his implement 60.26 meters.
- Sophomore Mia Belanger was the runner-up in the high jump after eclipsing a 1.59-meter bar.
- The women's long jump saw sophomore Ava Carry-McDonald take third, reaching 5.54 meters on her fourth jump. She also finished seventh in the triple jump after recording an 11.20m distance.
- Sophomore Collin Haj Abed was the best Husky finisher in the men's long jump, hitting the sand at 6.50 meters and earning seventh.
- Sophomore Jordan Spencer finished second in the triple jump, with his final jump of 13.97m earning him that place.
- Junior Abigail Klinge was the best collegiate finisher in the women's discus, spinning her implement 41.84m and finishing second overall.
- Sophomore Hailey Romero took third in the javelin after launching hers 37.06m.
- Senior Madeleine DuChaussee took fourth in the shot put, hoisting it 13.26 meters, while freshman Ohan Ambartsoumian finished ninth on the men's side with a 14.02m toss.
TRACK EVENTS
- Junior Reed Cherry championed the men's 800m in his first race in over a year with a 1:51.98 time.
- In the women's 1500m, freshman Keira Gamily crossed the line at 4:43.41, taking seventh place.
- Senior James Pothier finished third on the men's side of the 1500, notching a 3:53.73 time.
- In the women's 400m, junior Claire Danyluk sprinted to a 58.02 time to finish fifth.
- Freshman Johnny Emmanuel (48.70) and junior Jessie Legister (48.89) finished second and third in the men's 400, respectively.
- In the 110m hurdles, freshman Chinwuba Jon-Nwakalo placed 10th after crossing the line in 15.96 seconds.
- In the 200m dash, Emmanuel finished ninth after clocking a 21.97 time.
- Senior Robert Oehrlein ran to a third-place finish in the 5000m, crossing the line at 15:09.59.
- The women's 4x400 freshmen quartet of Gamily, Brittani Westberry, Waverly Hassman and Madeleine Morgado took seventh in the event, crossing the line at 4:12.67.
Next up, the Huskies have two meets in the New England area, with the Providence Friar Invitational and UConn Northeast Challenge Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
