Biron, Duggan Wrap Up Day Two At NCAA East Preliminaries

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Northeastern women's track & field team opened up their NCAA East Preliminaries performances at the University of Kentucky Thursday, competing on the second day of competition.

Fifth year Dominique Biron had one of the best performances of her season, reaching 6.16 meters on her third and final jump. That mark was just outside the qualifying 12 for the NCAA Championships, earning her 13th place in the East. She improved upon her mark from the previous year of 5.96 meters. Biron will also be continuing onto the NCAA Championships anyways as she earned an automatic qualification in the heptathlon based on her mark of 5,699 points earlier this year.

Senior Ava Duggan ran in the preliminary round of the women's 1500m, finishing in 4:29.01. She concluded her senior season in which she earned a CAA gold medal in the indoor mile, silver medals in the outdoor 1500 and outdoor 800 and a bronze medal in the indoor 800.

The men are back on the track Friday, beginning with the 3000m steeplechase quarterfinal at 5:40 p.m. Both junior Kyle Sarney and graduate student Alexander Korczynski will race then, and they will be followed by graduate student Kerem Ayhan in the 800m quarterfinal at 7:05 p.m. Junior Benjamin Godish will close out the night with the 5000m semifinal at 8:10 p.m., all live on ESPN+.
