LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Northeastern women's track & field team closed out the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds Saturday evening with seniors
Azza Borovicka-Swanson and
Abigail Hassman wrapping up their seasons with the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m, respectively.
Borovicka-Swanson closed out her outdoor track & field career with a time of 10:22.73 in the 3000m steeplechase quarterfinal, taking 19
th overall. The Bend, Oregon native won the CAA gold medal in the event this year and improved upon her 11:00.23 time from a year ago, also moving up 25 places in the meet.
In the 5000m, Hassman finished in 16:35.13, wrapping up her senior outdoor season. The 2023 CAA Cross Country Runner of the Year, Hassman won her second straight CAA Individual Cross Country Championship, earned CAA gold medals in the indoor 5000m and outdoor 1500m and picked up a gold medal in the outdoor 5000m. This was Hassman's second year competing at the NCAA East Preliminaries after finishing 37
th the year prior.
Fifth year
Dominique Biron will continue her season as she qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the heptathlon and graduate student Alexander Korczynski will run in the 3000m steeplechase on the men's side in Eugene, Oregon. That meet will kick off June 5 and conclude June 8, broadcast live on ESPN 2 and ESPN.
