Women’s Hockey Adds Four Freshmen Ahead of 2024-25 Campaign

BOSTON— Northeastern women's hockey head coach Dave Flint has announced the addition of four incoming freshmen ahead of the 2024-25 season. The entirely international group consists of forward Morgan Jackson, defensemen Tuva Kandell and Tristan Thompson and goaltender Lisa Jönsson.
 
"We can't wait to welcome our newest class to Boston," remarked Flint. "This year's class boasts an impressive international pedigree that will help us to continue to compete for championships. We're looking forward to adding depth across all positions and for our incoming student-athletes to make an immediate impact both on and off the ice."  
 
Morgan Jackson
Position: Forward
Hometown: Courtenay, British Columbia
High School: Shawnigan Lake School
Club: Shawnigan Lake School U18 Female Prep
 
  • Two-time First Team All-Star at Shawnigan Lake and team captain as a senior
  • Two-time U18 Canadian National Team member at IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, winning gold in 2023 and bronze in 2024
  • Named Top Forward at Canadian Nationals in 2024, winning Bronze with team British Columbia
  • Won Gold with Team British Columbia at Canada Winter Games in 2023
 
Lisa Jönsson
Position: Goaltender
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden
Club: MODO Hockey
 
  • Four-year member of MODO hockey, spending two seasons with the senior team and two seasons with the junior team
  • Earned Gold in the Junior Championship in Sweden in 2023 with MODO Hockey
  • Claimed Silver in the Swedish Championship in 2024 with MODO Hockey
  • Played with Sweden at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, helping the team earn a fourth-place finish and was named one of Sweden's top-three players
 
Tuva Kandell
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Leksand, Sweden
Club: Frölunda Hockey Club
 
  • Most recently played with Frölunda Hockey Club
  • Played with Leksands IF for five years
  • Two-time U18 Swedish National Team member at IIHF U18 Women's World Championship
  • Named the Best Defender at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship
 
Tristan Thompson
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Manotick, Ontario
Club: Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins
 
  • Played with the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins in 2023-24
  • Earned a Provincial Silver Medalist with the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins in 2023-24
  • Captain for the St. Mark Lions and Regional Champion in 2023 and 2024
