Junior
Jack Williams has been named captain of the 2024-25 squad, while fellow juniors
Vinny Borgesi,
Jackson Dorrington and
Cam Lund and graduate student
Jake Boltmann will serve as assistant captains.
Williams was a three-time Hockey East Player of the Week last season, while concluding the 2023-24 stint with 36 points from 17 goals and 19 assists. The Biddeford, Maine native served as the nation's leading scorer from Nov. 25-Feb. 23, tallying 30 points (15g, 15a) in 20 games. Williams added 11 multi-point games, seven power-play goals and two game-winning goals.
Borgesi, a defenseman from Philadelphia, Pa., recorded a career-highs last season in points (28), goals (5) and assists (23). In Hockey East action, his 16 points tied for fifth while 14 assists tied for fourth among all defensemen in the league. En route to claiming the Huskies' ninth Beanpot title, Borgesi tallied three points including an assist on the championship game-tying goal.
Dorrington comes back for the 2024-25 season as one of Northeastern's top defenseman. The native of North Reading, Mass. finished with 12 points from six goals, the best mark among all NU defensemen, and six assists. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick added 49 blocks, a plus-15 rating serving as the second best-mark on the team and recorded a career-high three-point game.
Lund, the 2022 San Jose Sharks draft selection, appeared in 35 games for the Huskies last season. The native of Bridgewater, Mass. tallied 30 points from 11 goals and 19 assists, while nine multi-point games. In Hockey East play, Lund's nine goals tied for 12
th best and his 21 points tied for 15
th in the league. Lund collected his second career hat trick in a victory over #1 Boston College, marking his second three-goal game agaisnt the Eagles.
Boltmann joins the Huskies as a graduate transfer following four seasons with the University of Notre Dame. The defenseman finished his career with the Fighting Irish having tallied 20 points from two goals and 18 assists. Additionally, he served as an assistant captain during his senior stint. A 2020 draft pick of the Calgary Flames, Boltmann was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
"I'm super excited and honored to be named captain," said Williams. "I've been able to watch a bunch of great leaders before me and learned as much as I can from those guys."
The Huskies begin their 2024-25 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 12 against Stonehill (7 p.m.; Matthews Arena).
