Field Hockey Gearing Up For Road Games At Syracuse, Holy Cross

BOSTON — The Northeastern field hockey team returns east for the back leg of its road trip. The Huskies first travel to face off with No. 14 Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 13, before returning to Massachusetts for a matchup with Holy Cross on Sunday, Sept. 15. The game against Syracuse can be streamed on ACCNX, while the game versus Holy Cross can be seen on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

1. RECAP REWIND: Northeastern concluded its long weekend in California on a high-note, handing Stanford its first loss of the season. Claiming a 1-0 victory on Sunday, the Huskies played well on both sides of the field, recording seven shots on goal and allowing two against the Cardinals. Junior midfielder Emmy Stubbs provided the lone goal of the contest for her second of the season, while senior goalkeeper Kristi Merashoff recorded her first clean sheet of the season, a stat that only one other CAA team has accomplished so far.

2. ORANGE YOU GLAD ABOUT THIS: Northeastern and Syracuse will square off for the first time in 14 years. The Orange are currently ranked 14th in the nation with a 2-1 record and are coming off a 5-0 loss to No. 8 Ohio State. Despite the Huskies dropping their most recent matchup in 2010 by a score of 4-1, they lead the all-time series against Syracuse with a 10-5 record.

3. MASSACHUSETTS MEETING PT. 2: The Huskies travel to Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon for another in-state battle – the Crusaders enter the week with a 2-1 overall record after falling 5-0 to the Fairfield Stags this past Friday. Northeastern holds a 15-1 all-time record against Holy Cross, with their lone loss coming in their inaugural season in 1980. The Huskies took care of business in last year's contest, taking a convincing 8-2 victory in which seven Huskies recorded at least one goal.

Following both matchups, the Huskies kick off CAA play at Drexel on Friday, Sept. 20, before returning to Dedham Field for the Youth & Alumni Game against VCU on Sunday, Sept. 22. Both games can be streamed on FloSports.
